Our Co-op of Farms
We are Grass Roots Farmers' Co-op, a community of small, independent farms united by a shared commitment to sustainable, local agriculture. Our farms span coast to coast. From the sweeping rangelands of Oregon, to the rolling hills of the Ozark Highlands in Arkansas, and the fertile, river-laced fields of Mississippi.
Together, we nurture the land, raise healthy food, and work to keep the spirit of small-scale farming alive. Every farm in our co-op carries its own story, but we are connected by a common goal: to grow with care, respect nature, and bring wholesome, responsibly produced food from our fields to your table.
Grass Roots Farmers' Co-op is a co-op of farmers in rural America practicing regenerative farming that’s better for the animals, the soil, the environment, and everyone’s health.
It all began when a group of like-minded farmers came together, driven by a common belief in the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and the desire to offer ethically raised meats to their local communities. These farmers recognized the need for a cooperative that would unite their efforts, amplify their collective impact, and provide a platform to reach a broader audience. And to honor honest work with a fair wage, and believe that raising livestock in sustainable ways that heal the land and foster healthy, living soil is the right thing to do.
We value our neighbors across the country and the globe just as much as we value our neighbors down the road.
This goes far beyond grass-fed and finished. Our animals are pasture and forest-raised, with no hormones or antibiotics. And the flavor? Well, that speaks for itself.
Welcome to our table.
The Future of Farming is Here
Agriculture that's intentional, sustainable, forward-thinking. Our community of farmers is growing.
People are the centerpiece of the farming equation. We began Grass Roots because we’re committed to paying a living wage to farmers—the down-to-the-earth people (pun intended!) who work with passion and grit to produce essential, nutritious food for the rest of us.
Grass Roots has seen the difference it makes to guarantee a sale price to members of the cooperative, and to purchase whole animals. Farmers tell us that without the worry of economic fluctuations they are free to farm to the best of their abilities, and they’re able to earn enough income to retain their land, make improvements, and plan for the future.
Economically empowered, the farmers and ranchers of Grass Roots join a growing community of farms in the U.S. (and around the world) who have bucked mid-20th century thinking and stepped away from industrial, chemical and pesticide-based agriculture that degrades the land. Instead of degenerative farming, regenerative practices heal the landscape—farmers are able to naturally and ethically produce higher quality, much tastier meat.
And across the digital landscape, people are talking the impact we are making.
Farming Standards
Every Grass Roots animal is born, raised and harvested in the USA. They graze on natural, non-GMO pasture and are never treated with hormones or antibiotics. We believe so strongly in our practices we encourage you to read our animal husbandry standards here.
